Weekend Guide: Petoskey, MI

Weekend Guide: Petoskey, MI

Petoskey is a small touristy town in Northern Michigan that I swear is actually Stars Hollow in disguise. I’m especially partial to visiting during the fall, as the colors are always gorgeous and the downtown area goes all out with decorations.

It’s got tons of adorable little shops, bed and breakfasts, and restaurants, not to mention a nearby historic district that has street after street of gorgeous Victorian homes.

We recently visited again for our anniversary, and had a wonderful time, so I thought I’d share some of my favorite places that we stopped.

Stay

STAFFORD’S BAY VIEW INN

A gorgeous historic Victorian inn one mile away from downtown Petoskey.

STAFFORD’S PERRY HOTEL

If you’re looking for that same Victorian charm with a more walkable location, the Perry is perfect – right down town, steps away from all the dining and shopping and absolutely adorable.

Eat + Drink

ROAST AND TOAST

A super cute neighborhood coffee shop and cafe. We didn’t actually stop in here this trip, but two of my friends are Petoskey area natives, and they swear by it – so it comes highly recommended!

BEARD’S BREWERY

A local brewery with great beer selection (obviously) and delicious appetizers and pub fare.

THAI ORCHID CUISINE

Okay maybe you weren’t exactly thinking of getting thai takeout, but this place is centrally located downtown and super delicious. It was exactly what we wanted after a long drive on a cold and gloomy day.

TAP 30

Tap 30 is a pourhouse with a ton of beer on tap, as well as spirits and cocktails. Plus they have a great menu with inventive pub food and delicious burgers. A great place to stop if you’re looking for a good time and simple but tasty New American food.

Shop

FLORA BAE HOME

This store was like, my Pinterest board all in one place. It’s apparently super new, but they had such a gorgeously curated selection of homegoods and lifestyle stuff. Highly recommend!

SYMON’S GENERAL STORE

Pictured above, this general store is gorgeous, looks like it belongs in Stars Hollow, and has tons of cute food items, a massive wine cellar downstairs, and a deli counter. It’s great for finding quick gifts or tasty souvenirs.

GRANDPA SHORTER’S GIFTS

A classic little small-town gift shop with plenty of mugs, tchotchkes and souvenir trinkets.

SHED FINE GOODS

I didn’t actually see this one until we were on the way out of town, so we didn’t stop and after Googling it I’m lowkey heartbroken. But all the more reason to go back soon! It has tons of gorgeous homegoods and is impeccably curated.

MCCLEAN & EIKEN

A cozy little bookstore that I swear is somehow bigger on the inside. It has two floors packed with new and used books, and other goodies like a small selection of vinyl records and bookish gifts.
